Registration is closed for this event
Our fifth annual education conference, expo and general meeting is coming. Book the dates in your Calendar. March 1st and March 2nd, 2017 at the Admiral Inn in Mississauga. Come, learn, catch-up on the regulation process and network with fellow inspectors and industry experts.

Following on the success of last years Conference and AGM we have extended the program to cover two days for 2017.

The conference will be broken up into three streams over 2 days.

One stream is dedicated to a series of presentations, each lasting between 45 minutes to 1 hour, to educate Inspectors on new technologies, new materials and techniques, or new services that will be useful to them in the profession.

We are also offering streams that allow Inspectors to choose, training that will offer CPD credits, formal education offering CEU credits and a certification towards HERS energy auditing.  The format is flexible allowing Inspectors to choose their options, and an option for Inspectors to write proctored examinations toward the CCHI program will also be available.

Suppliers and sponsor who would like to register to either present, have a trade stand or just sponsor the event should register at this link here.

Safety-Express
The CSA-A770-2016 standard demands Inspectors alter their methods for inspection.  If these standards are adopted, visual inspections as madated, are going to be augmented by the use of "tools" as appropriate.  A770 calls out for specific tool to be used, such as borescope,  laser measure, digital thermometer, electrical circuit analyzer, voltage detector, and moisture meters.  Safety-Express, a long-term supporter of OntarioACHI provides all the tools a Home Inspector might need for today or for future standards, and Trish Will be here to discuss the various options an Inspector has and how these best fit the needs.

Hub International
Kim Smith and Stephanie Tanguay will be talking about professional liability insurance and how this protects you and your business from frivolous lawsuits.
Stephanie Tanguay works at ClaimsPro, if you have a claimant that has “issues” with you regardless if they are warranted or not. That issue would come across the desk of Stephanie or one of her colleagues. Her knowledge of all the association SOP and legality of what we do is second to none. She can do a talk on the list of questions they want answers to when someone asks to speak to your legal department.
Presentation 3-2
Mr-Radon
Radiation from radon is estimated to kill 848 Ontarians every year.    OntarioACHI have been working with CARST to produce a short-term Real-Estate testing protocol that can be used in Canada during the sale process, with a simple Green-Amber-Red result,  aimed at increasing the protection of consumers from the risks associated with radon in the home.  Bob will be talking about these risks, the push for manadatory radon inspections and how we will be working together to get this seen by the government as the best service to add to Home Inspectons to protect consumers.
Presentation 3-3
Bill 59 - The story so far and what's next?
This is a change to the originally published speaker.  By today, the Committee presentations will have been completed, and the decision regarding Regulation will be on its way back to the assembly.  We will be presenting a no-holds barred view on what we think the next steps are likely to be and how this will affect Inspectors in Ontario over the coming months.  So far all the predictions from your voluteer team have been accurate including the Private Members bill last year from Mr. Han Dong, how it would be subsumed by a government Bill this year and the progress to date.  We feel certian that we are sufficiently up-to-date with the process that we can make an educated estimate as to what to expect next.  Hear how your associaton has been involved to date, and how we are working with others to move the profession forward for the benefit of consumers and inspectors alike.

Chad Brezynskie,
Vice-President Sales & Marketing,
GeoSmart Energy

Chad Brezynskie has worked in the GeoExchange™ industry since 2001. He completed his undergraduate studies at Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU) in Waterloo, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree.

Before moving into the renewable energy industry he spent a few years working in a marketing role with a small start-up internet services company. In this role he stumbled upon a small geothermal start-up and as this relationship developed, he was ultimately recruited by them and brought into what was then a quiet geothermal industry.

For almost four years, Chad excelled in a number of different roles at this company. He took care of many aspects of marketing and sales and eventually honed his technical geothermal skills under the guidance of two of Canada’s most recognized and respected geothermal leaders, Stan Marco and David Hatherton. It was in those years that he began to make his mark in the Canadian geothermal market.

In 2005 Chad moved on to co-found GeoSmart Energy, an Ontario based OEM brand of GeoExchange™ equipment, manufactured by WFI Industries. In just over a decade this company has become a major player in the Canadian market thanks in part to his vision, leadership, and technical expertise. Currently he continues to help lead GeoSmart, and remains excited and optimistic about the future growth of the industry in the years ahead.
